Legend tells of a hero, the one they call The Sole Survivor, who came from far away and gave aid to the Brotherhood of Steel in a quest. According to that legend, as payment for his aid after answering the call to arms, the great Paladin Danse gave to The Sole Survivor his greatest weapon. As all great weapons do, this weapon had a name. Paladin Danse called it Righteous Authority.

Righteous Authority represents the ultimate in weapons technology. Its kill power is spoken of in astonished whispers. And with the proper tools, its wielder can modify it to suit any combat situation. Need to take out an enemy from 1000 yards? The stock barrel can be replaced with one more suited to a sniper's skills. If you require a means of dispatching multiple enemies in close quarters, you might prefer a setup more like that of a shotgun...easily obtainable with the Righteous Authority. You can even, if such is your style, drop the accoutrements and go with the rogue gunslinger approach. It's up to you.
